Om nom nom.

A few weeks ago, my aunt & uncle had a little family & friends BBQ get-together for my cousin & her hubby with their two kids who were visiting here from New Brunswick. I got an adorable video of their youngest, Jacob, eating his birthday cake all in one piece. Tooo cute!

Tanya, you’re in our thoughts.

A friend of mine, Tanya, just had a massive stroke on Monday. She just had surgery to relieve swelling in her brain yesterday and is in the ICU at the moment recovering.

Her sister, Sheri, had set up a blog to keep us all updated on her progress.

(photo from the blog)

It’s terrible that this had to happen to someone awesome and great like her. But I’m soo happy to hear that she’s doing quite well for someone in her condition.

Whether or not you know her, just please send some good vibes to her and her loved ones. They really need it.

Yarker, you’ll be sorely missed.

I’m at my parents’ in Yarker and thought I’d drop in for an update. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before but my parents sold their house and are moving out in 13 days. I’m a bit bummed that they’re leaving pretty much one of the best small towns I’ve ever been in. I’ll definitely miss walking up to the Waterfall Tea Room & Store for a yummy lunch and delicious homemade pie. And the trails! So many trails and they’re all amazing. I’m sure we’ll definitely come back once in a while for to get our Yarker fix.

They’re moving into a brand new apartment building right off the base (closer to Dad’s work) at the end of July. It’s super nice there and I’m excited! My parents are going to stay at my aunt & uncle’s house and house-sit while they travel. I haven’t talked with Dad yet about Samba but I’m thinking I might be looking after her most of the time which I’d LOOOVE. I miss having a dog around.

Today, I’ve been tidying up around the house because the new owners want to come in later in the afternoon to check on things. I’m assuming measuring and such. If Dad doesn’t come home from work by the time I have to leave the house, I’ll be taking Samba to the trails. If he does, we’ll probably go up to Camden Lake and take Samba swimming. She LOOOVES it there. I’ll take pictures either way and post it up tonight.

Tomorrow, (if weather permits) they’re having a yard sale. My parents have wayyy too much stuff so it’s a real good thing they’re having one. I’ll be getting some of their stuff for my place too. For free! They’re giving me their queen bed with a headboard which I’m SOOOO stoked about. I’ve been sleeping on a futon for the past… 5-6 years! And a friggin’ QUEEN! Score. I’m also getting a nightstand, a glider chair for the living room, maybe some kitchen stuff, I don’t know.

school’s out for summer

YAY! :yay: Just finished my third semester of General Arts & Science the last week of April. So stoked that summer’s here even though it doesn’t feel like that outside. The temperature dropped quickly over the weekend and it’s sooo COLD!

♪ school’s out for summer
no more pencils, no more books
no more teacher’s dirty looks
out for summer, out till fall
we might not go back at all ♪

I don’t have much planned for my summer holiday yet but I do have one thing that’s most likely happening – I’ll be going on a road trip with a friend to the east coast! I’m so ecstatic for that trip, I’ve never been there. Oh and Mellissa’s moving back to Canada so definitely going to make some time to visit her!

Yesterday, Dad, Laura & I went to Quebec for the day. We visited my grand-mère in Sorel then my aunt Madeleine and cousins in Chambly then dropped Laura off in Saint-Jean for her summer training. She’s staying there till mid-August. I get to use her Canon Digital Rebel camera while she’s away so definitely going to bring that with me when I head out east!

When we were at Aunt Madeleine’s, we got to meet a cute little baby grey squirrel that my cousin rescued. It was very sick and dying so she took it in and nursed it back to health. It’s all health and happy now, real cute. The squirrel treats my cousin like a tree, hanging onto her clothes and climbing around. SO CUUUUUTE!

Jessy & The Kiwis

I’ve mentioned before in some posts and videologs that my awesome friend, Jessy, has gone to New Zealand for a semester. She decided to set up a weblog and I’m SOOO glad she did! Jessica’s New Zealand Adventures. You really should check it out, she has great photographs and posts about her experience.

i’ve got sunshine on a cloudy day & when it’s cold outside, i’ve got the month of may ♪

Sorry for the lack of updates, been quite busy! Yes, the whole month!

First weekend of February, I went to Newmarket/Aurora for Jessy’s good-bye party before she headed off to New Zealand. I had a GREAT time with her and her friends and did not want to leave. :depressed:

Second weekend was Alexis’ birthday party and long weekend. I had an awesome time and they got me addicted to poker! Oh, and I got to meet some people from Quebec that was deaf! I’ve always wanted to learn LSQ and more French. Definitely will get a tutor for French, I want to be able to communicate 100% in French with my family from Quebec.

Third weekend was the ODSA (Ontario Deaf Sports Association) Ball Hockey tournament which rocked because both men and women’s Montreal teams were swept! FINALLY. They won every year for a while and it was getting to us. The BAD (Belleville Association of the Deaf) women’s team and the TAD (Toronto Association of the Deaf) men’s team won first place. For the weekend, Alexis and I stayed at Christy’s along with Matt. Had a great time with the three of ‘em!

And this weekend is the start of my spring break, I’m giving myself a travel break. I was originally going to spend my whole break in Toronto with Christy and Jessica but changed my mind because I want a weekend of normal. So I’m at my parents’ for the weekend helping out with getting the house fixed up. Then Tuesday or Wednesday, I’ll head up to Toronto. I can’t wait for that, it’s going to be a great time. Jessica had just moved back to Canada from the States! Ooooh, we’ll be seeing the Alice in Wonderland movie on Friday! Totally stoked for that. And in 3D!!! Weeeee!

Okay, I think I’m all caught up on what I’ve been up to. I should get started on helping my mom with the basement. Photos of all the weekends will be uploaded on my Flickr Sunday evening.

Happy Holidays!

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Jack Frost nipping at your nose
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like Eskimos

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe
Help to make the season bright
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow
Will find it hard to sleep tonight

They know that Santa’s on his way
He’s bringing lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh
And every mother’s child is gonna spy
To see if reindeer really know how to fly

And so I’m offering this simple wish
To kids from one to ninety-two
Although it’s been said many times, many ways
Merry Christmas to you

A little update so you all know I’m still alive. I’ve been in the Toronto area since Friday. I went and visited Jessy over the weekend, had a great time with her and her friends. I miss her already! After that I’ve been staying with Christy. Love her place and her cute kitties! Tonight, I’m joining Jason back home after a little Christmas shopping at Yorkdale Mall.

Happy holidays!
